Switch to Action mode: 3 keys to enrich our Swiss army knife!
Welcome to My First Blog Post
Welcome to my first blog post! Today, I wanted to talk to you about the Swiss army knife, an analogy that I developed during my educational roadtrips on the snowy roads of Northwestern Ontario. Between moments of action and reflection, often alone with my thoughts and my projects, I thought of the people I was going to support. Concerned for their well-being, I reflected on their feelings of isolation in rural areas and the Northern Lights. This Swiss army knife metaphor represents to me the multiple tools and skills we can develop to overcome challenges and help others.
Education is an ever-changing field, and for those who support adults – whether you are an educational advisor, mentor, cooperating teacher or principal – it is essential to remain proactive and continue to develop.
In this first blog, I invite you to discover how to switch to action mode and enrich your “Swiss army knife” thanks to three practical keys from my solutions laboratory.
1. Wanting to take action: The first step towards change is the desire to take action. Often we have ideas and intentions, but without the commitment to get started, those ideas remain dreams. To transform these intentions into concrete actions, it is crucial to ask the right questions:
– What is my main motivation?
– What are the specific goals I want to achieve?
– How can I measure my progress?
This initial reflection will help you clarify your vision and prepare a solid action plan.
2. Key #1: Adopt a growth mindset: A growth mindset is essential for innovation and continuous improvement. This means being open to learning, seeing challenges as opportunities, and persevering despite obstacles. By cultivating this mentality, you can inspire and motivate others to do the same.
“It’s not the wind that decides your destination, it’s the direction you give your sail. » —Jim Rohn — Jim Rohn
3. Key #2: Use collaborative tools: Success in education is often based on collaboration. Use technological tools and communication platforms to facilitate collaboration between colleagues. Share winning practices that you have tried yourself, organize virtual meetings to brainstorm ideas, and create a support network where everyone can contribute and learn from others. A quick hello on Teams or Meet sometimes alleviates a challenge, a question very quickly.
4. Key #3: Promote innovation through trial and error: Innovation often requires thinking outside the box and experimenting with new approaches. Do not fear failure; see it as a learning opportunity. Create an environment where trial and error is valued, and encourage our colleagues to test new methods and share their experiences. Technology is a big chunk, a difficult mouthful to swallow and a source of stress for many, even today.

In conclusion
Taking action :
- Are you ready to fully commit to your professional and personal development this year?
- By asking yourself this question, you assess your level of motivation and commitment to achieve your goals.
- How can you collaborate more closely with your colleagues and partners to enrich your professional practices? (sometimes it’s a colleague)
- Consider collaboration opportunities that can help you share ideas, resources and strategies to grow together.
- What innovations can you adopt or develop to overcome challenges and create significant impact in your field?
- Identify new methods, tools or approaches that can transform your work and provide creative solutions to your projects. Find the person who is 2 steps in front of you!
By answering these questions, you can begin a deep reflection on how to adopt a proactive and dynamic approach to 2025. Together, we (myself included) can overcome challenges and create a significant impact in the field of education or any other project that fascinates us.
What are your commitments for this new year?
What collaborations are you planning?
What innovations do you want to explore?
